Six cycles of ABVD complete. And yup, I was out running in the rain again.
Most people -- even with advanced disease -- get to stop after six cycles of ABVD. So I kind of hoped my oncologist's whole "not negotiable" 8 cycle plan would be negotiable based upon my good PET scan at the end of three cycles of chemo. Nope. He sent me to see a Hodgkin's specialist down at Main Campus. The specialist concurred with 8 cycles and said no radiation. Too big of a field he said, and radiation hasn't been proven to improve overall survival in patients like me. So no rads.
I'm sort of disappointed chemo won't be ending early, but then again, I'm not really. Radiation would be a big unknown. As much as two more cycles of ABVD is going to stink, at least I know that enemy. Plus I want to do all I can to kill it. Hopefully the last two cycles won't be that bad ...

Ice Cream.
I had this exchange with my oncologist.
Him: "Are you eating enough?"
Me: "I guess. I am mostly just eating ice cream."
Him: "Ice cream doesn't have enough protein. And you can't just live on ice cream, Jennifer."
Me: "Hmm. I think that sounds like a challenge, Doc."
He just shook his head. haha.

July is turning out to be better than June.I ran today. No stopping, no pain killers needed to get through, no quasi-asthma attacks, absolutely everything was perfect. I think I may have finally, officially beaten the Bleo damage.
I feel better. Life is starting to look up a little.
It was like flipping a switch how fast I got better. Not that I’m complaining. I’m overjoyed.
