new shoes!
I broke down. I bought the red and navy and gray and white Adidas Supernovas I posted about yesterday from Zappos. I don’t really have the money for another pair of running shoes right now, but hopefully the Supernovas will be ok on my feet and they can be used as a back-up pair of running shoes. Though I think because they are just so darned beautiful they may never be used outside — they may become winter treadmill shoes (assuming I can find/afford a gym membership for the winter). I’m not sure I could take the chance that mud or rain or something would sully their beauty!

wildlife on the run
The wildlife watching was really good on today’s run! Quality over quantity. Just as I was starting out, I saw a mother deer and her new fawn venturing to the edge of the river. The fawn must have been just born because it had spindly legs and spots. The spots fade, I believe, at around three months old, so this was definitely a young baby.
Then, coming around the bend in the river, I saw a great blue heron. He was stalking in the river, obviously looking for breakfast. Again, I got a very good look at him. I like herons. They look so handsome, distingushed, and stately.
